Billy Goat Trail

One of the best ideas my co-worker, Jesse, has maybe ever had was to hold one of our big ideation sessions while hiking. And so was born the "hiking meeting", which may be the best way ever to do business.

We went to the Maryland side of Great Falls Park and did the Billy Goat Trail A, which runs along the Potomac, forcing you to scramble over rocks and along cliffs for quite some time. It's a pretty good trail.

We were down in a ravine at one point when we suddenly heard Marine One, then saw it sweeping low around the bank as if we were in some sort of action movie. That was fun. We even got some work done along the way. When I run my own company, there will be a minimum number of meetings you must hold in National Parks. I can't recommend the new hiking meeting enough.

Cherry Blossoms

We didn't have a great chance to go down to the cherry blossoms as a family this year during peak bloom, so I diverted my commute one morning into downtown just to see the tail-end of it. My goal is to go every year that we live here 1) because we never know when we'll move away and 2) it's a great reminder that life sometimes throws some beautiful opportunities at you when you least expect it and it's important to pay attention and take advantage them.
